Condolences

Condolence From: Nancy Ensor
Condolence: Willie, it's been many years since our paths crossed. I just learned of your wife's passing in my annual Christmas card from Stan Henry. I send my deepest condolences to you and your family. I remember only meeting Katherine one time at a cookout you Whidbey folks had while I was in town. Katherine had made a taco salad, for which she told me how it was made. To this day, I make my taco salad the same way. When I told my husband, Jerry, the news and reminded him of how I learned how to make the salad, he replied "we owe her a debt of gratitude." I'm sad I lost touch with you over the years, but I value having known you, Willie, and having met your dear Katherine. May you find peace and comfort in knowing the effect she had on those she met. Much love to you and your family, Nancy Ensor, Richmond, KY (formally Orlando, FL)

Condolence: People come into ones life for a reason, a season or a time. We met Kathryn and Willie at Whidbey Whirlers Square Dance club and were blessed to be called their friends. I'm not sure our square ever got through a call that we didn't breakdown with laughter. We spent many wonderful times also dancing in Willie and Kathryn's garage, eating Kathryn's delicious cooking (she could cook!!), camping with them and visiting their Christmas tree farm in December. Wonderful memories all! Kathryn always had a beautiful tan long into winter from working in the Christmas trees in the summer. She once remarked that tan fat was more attractive than white fat ~smile~. I learned a couple of things from Kathryn that I've never forgotten. Use peanut butter when cooking Pinto Beans (who Knew!)and don't ever call her Kathy, she let me off easy when I did, but I knew not to do it ever again ~smile~. Our lives got busier to the detriment of fostering precious friendships but the sweet memories of all the wonderfully good times we had with Willie and Kathryn will always be treasured. Recently when Bill was recovering from a critical illness in the hospital, Kathryn replied to our daughters post of her daddy in a hospital gown with her great sense of humor saying, "Lovely picture, but tell Bill I question his choice of dress!". Thank you dear friend for coming into our lives for a reason, a season and a time and blessing us with your friendship. You are a special person and we shall never forget you!! We pray God's riches blessings of comfort and peace on Willie, their children and grandchildren. Kathryn, the sadness of your leaving will be only a moment long for the joy of your having been here will be forever. <

Condolence: What do you say about someone who was an icon of Oak Harbor? 25 years after leaving there Ashley,Sarah and tyler still remember quips and instructive comments and loving smacks upside the head -she was such a part of them being who they are today. We all love her tremendously. So many of our fondest memories revolve around hers and willies christmas tree farm. She was bigger than life and not ever forgotten. We all are so grateful God put her in our lives -riches beyond measure from that lady. Love you Katherine aka "Mz Christmas".

Condolence: My heart aches for the Christmas family. Katherine was truly an amazing woman. I only had the chance to share the Smith Family Reunion with her a couple of times - and thought she was the most delightful person I have ever met. And sorry that I had missed the previous years that I could have gotten to know her better. I know Bill will miss her terribly and I saw what a great marriage and friendship that they had. She will forever be a role model for me when it comes to going through so much always with a smile. Katherine, you will be missed.

Condolence: Katherine your memory makes me smile and laugh. There is not one single time that I can remember that a visit with you didn't make me happy and leave feeling lighter. Holly has inherited that trait for sure. The other thing I remember is your Southern compassion, hospitality, twang and love of white trash food . If you can't eat a big glob of pimento cheese on a spoon , you just ain't Southern! You have left us all a great legacy of LOVE. I know Holly and her kids will do the same. Miss you but know we will see you again( don't spook us) in heaven or whatever is on the other side. Christmas family- I am tremendously honored to have known Katherine and too how well you cared for her in these past few years. Willy you are an amazing caregiver and husband.

Condolence: I did not know Katherine for a long time, we first met at Jess and Noel's wedding and I was truly amazed by this lovely lady.
I am truly sorry that our time together wasn't more extensive but I feel like I have lost a good friend. Her family was so important to her and I know that they will be at a lose, but know that she is looking down at you and saying don't cry for me, get out there and make a difference for me.
May rest in peace, Katherine.
