William "Bill" C. Hotard died suddenly at Whidbey General Hospital, Coupeville, WA on Thursday May 14, 2015. He was 78 years of age. Bill was born in College Station, Texas to Joseph and Emily (Holligan) Hotard. He was one of four brothers.

Bill joined the US Navy. He married Lola C. Schuck and they had three daughters, Christine, Susan and Karen. After a number of duty stations, Bill retired as a Commander (O-5) in July 1981. After his retirement from the Navy, Bill started a second career teaching computer science at the University of California, San Diego.

In 1998 Bill and Lola moved to Oak Harbor and have called it home ever since. He was active in Habitat for Humanity, the Oak Harbor Yacht Club, MOAA, the Mariner's Cove Homeowners Association and Grace by the Sea Anglican Church.

Bill is survived by his wife Lola and daughters Christine (Damon) Seiveno and Susan Hotard all of San Diego; grandsons Jesse Taylor and Russell Seiveno and a brother John (Susan) Hotard of Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by daughter Karen and three brothers, Clifton, Robert, and Paul.

Funeral Services for Bill will be held on Thursday, May 21 at 11:00 am at Grace by the Sea Anglican Church, 540 SE Pioneer Way, Oak Harbor. A coffee and cookies reception will be held at the church following services. At 1:00 pm, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the home of Barb and Tom Dumit.
