David Ray Wood, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 59. He was born April 14, 1956 in Oak Harbor, WA to Floyd and Evelyn Wood. David lived in Oak Harbor until he was 12 years old when his father passed away. The family moved to California for a few years and returned to Oak Harbor when David was 17. David met Catherine Wiggins in 1978. They were married in 1980. Their son Robert Wood was born the same year. David managed several restaurants in the Oak Harbor area before the family moved to Oklahoma. After several years they returned to the Oak Harbor area.

David attended Bellingham Technical College and earned an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology. He began a career in the automotive industry at several dealerships in Oak Harbor, but found his passion working with people at Whidbey Island Manor serving as their Maintenance Director. He retired after 10 years of service.

David was a member of Living Word Fellowship. He loved worship and cooking dinner for the youth group. He enjoyed traveling to National Parks such as the Canyon Lands in Utah and going to Las Vegas. He was a huge sports fan and loved attending ball games. His favorite teams were the Seahawks, Mariners, and the Dallas Cowboys. David had a soft spot for his beloved Boston Terrier Popeye. But most of all, his favorite pastime was being with his family.

David had a kind, gentle spirit, with a big easy smile and a willingness to help anyone. He is survived by his loving wife Catherine, son Robert and wife Diana Sievert-Wood, and their two wonderful grandchildren Nevin and Cecil. Also surviving are sisters Sharon Best, Vicky Plante, Wanda Karn and brothers Jerry Wood, and Steven Wood. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Evelyn Wood and one brother Richard Wood.

David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Family graveside services were held at Maple Leaf Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service open to everyone will be held at Living Word Fellowship at 4:00 P.M., on Saturday, May 30. A reception with a sports theme will follow for friends and family.
