Obituary for Frances Alice "Fran" Whitley

Frances Alice Whitley died at HomePlace Special Care Facility, Oak Harbor on December 15, 2015 at the age of 74. She was born in Salem, Oregon on February 19, 1941 to Frank and Alice White. She grew up in Salem and then moved with her family to Chimacum, WA.

Frances completed her GED and began work for Boeing in 1967. Eventually, she became a part of the 767 program. She lived in Marysville and Everett for more than 30 years during her time with Boeing. For many years, she served as Union Rep for the local of the International Electrical Workers Union. Frances retired in 2004 and moved to Oak Harbor in 2005 to be with her sister.

Frances was a gifted artist, love the out-of-doors, loved gardening, nursing animals back to health and caring for her animal menagerie, enjoyed visiting Utah, was an avid poker player, road motorcycles and dirt bikes and loved tracing her genealogy. She often appeared to be short with people, but she was a total marshmallow.

Frances is survived by her children, John Whitley of Marysville and Donna Mason of Amarillo, TX; siblings Eleanor Christensen of Oak Harbor, Elizabeth Lammers of Pt. Hadlock, WA, Joseph White of Clearwater, FL and brother-in-law Gene Yantz of Port Townsend, WA. Also surviving is a grandson, Mathew Mason. She was preceded in death by her former husband, James Whitley, her parents Frank and Alice, a granddaughter Christen Mason and siblings, Dorothy Yantz, Evelyn Craney, Carol White and Frank Edward White.

Cremation was held. Graveside committal services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Laurel Grove Cemetery, Port Townsend, where Frances will be laid to rest with her family members.
