Obituary for Warren Pool

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dad, Warren Pool. Warren was born October 27, 1939 to Ralph and Ruth Pool in Compton, California. He was the sixth of eight children.

He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country as a paratrooper for the Screaming Eagles 101st Airborne Division before receiving an honorable discharge in 1957.

Warren was a hard worker. He built airplanes for Lockheed in Palmdale, California. He was a civil servant in Utah at Hill Air Force Base and Oklahoma City at Tinker Air Force Base. In 1973, Warren settled his family in Oak Harbor where he was a sheet metal fabricator and a helicopter mechanic at Whidbey Naval Air Station.

Warren knew no strangers. He loved to sit around and shoot the bull with his buddies. He could strike up a conversation with anyone. We always joked that he would have a conversation with a tree if he could. He also loved his grandchildren, travelling, playing cards, war history, Golden Corral and going to garage sales searching for treasures and talking down prices. He was quite the haggler!

Warren is survived by his children: Tim Pool and Tammy Barney, Cheryl Pool, Sandy Pool, Brenda and Robert Keene, and Terry Cooke; his grandchildren: Christopher and Michael Goldman, Brittany Merlo, Andrew Keene, John and Bethany Cooke, Melanie and Sarah Pool; and great-grandchildren: Tristan Goldman, Scharlotte Pool, Ezra Goldman as well as a baby boy yet to make an appearance. He is also survived by his one remaining sibling, Ann Warren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, one son “Little Guy” Pool, and his girlfriend of 42 years, Elsa Miller.

Arrangements were entrusted to Wallin Funeral Home. Friends and family are encouraged to leave memories in the Book of Memories on their website at www.wallinfuneralhome.com.
