Obituary for Joe Rivadelo Somera

Joe R. Somera Sr., 77, passed away peacefully on Feb. 13 at his home in Oak Harbor. He was the husband of Estrella Somera, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.

Born in Santa Catalina Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He served in the U.S. Navy for over 27 years and worked as a jet mechanic ranked as a senior chief.

Throughout his life, Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, working on cars and reading historical literature. He will be remembered for his generous nature, his strong work ethic and insatiable hunger for knowledge.

He is survived by his wife, Estrella, his children Peggy, Leo, Joe Jr. (with wife Adrienne) and Ruby (with her husband Chad). Joe is also survived by his grandchildren Tyler, Ivy, Lark, Gigi, Josie and Niko.

He was predeceased by Philip Hawthorn (husband to Peggy).
