Obituary for Lena Mahoney

Lena Mahoney, born October 8, 1917 passed away on March 19, 2017 in Coupeville, WA.
Lena was born in Fisher, Illinois, one of nine children to John Bort and Elizabeth Eigsti Bort.
Lena married Fred Mahoney March 4, 1946 in Clay Center, KS, who preceded her in death. They lived in Hutchinson, KS until early in the Fifties when they moved to California. They returned to Kansas in 1967 and Lena would remain there until 2002 when she moved to Oak Harbor, WA to be near her son and family. Lena became a member of the Hutchinson 1st Church of the Nazarene in 1970. She was a blessing to the church and active in choir and church activities. She was a deeply religious and focused on church and family. When she arrived in Oak Harbor, she immediately joined the Oak Harbor Church of the Nazarene and would remain a member of the congregation until her death.
Lena leaves behind a daughter Corile Mann, of Hutchinson, KS and a son Michael of Oak Harbor, WA. She also leaves 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lena spent many years in the food service industry. She loved staying busy. She was always on the go and was involved in senior activities at her Church and her retirement center.
A funeral service will be held at Church of The Nazarene, Oak Harbor, WA at Noon April 4, 2017, with a reception to follow.

Services will also be held at 1st Church of The Nazarene, Hutchinson, KS at 2pm May 4, 2017. A private internment will follow
