Rhonda Rae Hill

Rhonda Rae Cannon Hill, age 49, passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2017 in her Oak Harbor, Washington home where she lived for almost 10 years.

Rhonda was born January 18, 1968, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Her childhood years were spent mostly in Oregon with her three sisters and four brothers whom she loved dearly. She graduated from McMinnville High School in McMinnville, Oregon, and later moved to Washington State where she met and married her husband and best friend Gerald Hill, who proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. There she and Gerald raised a family and Rhonda worked for several years at the Personnel Support Detachment, as a well-respected Verifying Official and Site Security Manager (SSM) from 2005-2011.

Rhonda’s love and devotion to her family—especially her beloved children and grandchildren—was an example to all who knew her. She was fiercely committed to those she loved and cared deeply for her friends. She loved to cook and had a heart for the lonely. She was known to invite anyone and everyone to Thanksgiving dinner because she didn’t believe anyone should spend the holidays alone. Additionally, Rhonda had a positive impact within the local community because she enjoyed civic and community involvement working as a “Team Mom” for the Oak Harbor Youth Football League. She was a former member of the North Whidbey Lions Club.

Rhonda is survived by her loving husband, Gerald Hill; children, Naser Al-zaid, Fawaz Al-zaid, Desiree Hill, Bryce Hill; grandchildren, twins Achilles and Julius Hill; Rhonda’s parents Terry and Martha Cannon, and all her siblings, John Ellison, Sunny Rosanbalm, Lynley Cutillo, Rois Cannon, Steven Cannon, Cheri' Albin, and Bill Cannon. Also surviving are other relatives including sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.

Rhonda’s laugh, humor, dedication, and kindness will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
