Joyce Merrick Terrell passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in the presence of her loving son and nieces at her home in Coupeville. Joyce was born on March 12, 1928 to Lester and Elizabeth Merrick in Bronxville, New York.

She spent her childhood in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and attended the Abbott School in Andover, MA. She graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology from Wheaton College in 1950.

Joyce was a master gardener and a member of the Oak Harbor Garden Club for over thirty years. She was also a member of the Whidbey Island Beach Walkers. Joyce was an accomplished fine artist, photographer, and an avid animal lover.

Survivors include her son, Nicholas Allen, and nieces Sarah, Mary and Clare Roncarelli and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, Fred Terrell, sister, Libby (Roncarelli) Merrick, son, Chris Allen, and grandson, Sean Allen.

A private burial will be held in November at Sunnyside Cemetery.
