Obituary for Joanne Andricos

Joanne Andricos, a long-time resident, passed away suddenly in Coupeville, WA. She had been courageously fighting breast cancer for over a year. Joanne was born in Little Falls, New York. She had been a resident of Oak Harbor for 55 years.

Joanne was a Navy wife for over 30 years, traveling, along with her husband Theodore P Andricos to numerous duty stations. Ted preceded her in death in 2017.

Joanne was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was affectionately called “Yia Yia” (which is Greek for grandmother) by all her children and grandchildren.

Besides her love for her family Joanne loved gardening and was known for her green thumb. She loved traveling with her children and shopping. Some of the places she had traveled were Greece, Germany, England, The Caribbean, Hong Kong, and Oak Harbor Senior Center bus trips all over the state.

Joanne was a member of the Emblem Club and enjoyed making crafts for their fundraisers throughout the years. She had a passion for mentoring elementary students and helping them with their reading.

She is survived by her children: Donna Smith, Theodore Andricos Jr, Dina Nichols, Denise Bridgeman and Thomas Andricos. Her grandchildren: Kristin Smith, Heather Kargbo, Lauren Alder, Megan Andricos, Derek Andricos, Kimberly Nichols, Michael Nichols, and Larrisa Bridgeman. Along with great grandchildren: Holden Alder, Dade Alder, Beckett Alder, and Conrad Andricos.

The Andricos family suggests memorials may be made to Island Hospital Merle Cancer Care Center.

A private family graveside service will be held on May 11, 2018 at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Oak Harbor, WA.
