Sandra W Martenson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 23 following a brief and unexpected illness. Born Sandra Anne Wavrunek in Two Rivers, WI, 1936, Sandra spent her youth in the Midwest. In 1962 she married Guy Martenson, a US Navy pilot.

Attracted to its natural beauty and ease of living, Sandra and Guy moved to Whidbey Island in 1994. Following Guy’s death in 1997, Sandra became active in the community, serving on boards for Friends of the Library, Retired Officers Wives Club, Friends of the Hospital, hospice, and, most notably, the Oak Harbor Senior Center, where she served in various capacities for over 20 years.

She is survived by her son, Mark, sisters, Susan and Mary, and brother John.

Sandra loved Whidbey Island. Her 20 plus years of selfless service reflect that love. Her friends were many and her experiences were rich. She will be missed.
