Obituary for Cody Alexander Van Cott

CODY ALEXANDER VAN COTT

Cody Alexander Van Cott died April 2, 2013 at his home in Oak Harbor at the age of 27. He was born at home in Oak Harbor on June 29, 1985 to Kenneth and Charlene Van Cott. He attended Olympic View and Hillcrest Elementary, North Whidbey Middle School and Oak Harbor High School, where he graduated in 2005. During his time at the high school, Cody was involved with the creative arts and the woodshop programs. He had a love of art and spent a great deal of his time sketching.

Cody was employed by New Leaf working at the NAS Whidbey Galley and most recently as a custodian at the Child Care Center. He also worked for a time through Labor Ready and for Upchurch Scientific as an assembly worker in their Medical Components area.

Cody was a young man with a huge heart and a very expressive face. He was a gentle soul and would laugh easily. He enjoyed bike riding, skim and skateboarding, was a joyous dancer and loved using his computer for games, Skype, Facebook and YouTube. He also made friends easily and enjoyed being with them. He had a wonderful relationship with his nieces and nephews. He had a love of music and played bass guitar in a garage band for a time.

Cody is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Charlene Van Cott at the family home, Oak Harbor, by two sisters and their husbands, Rebecca and Jody Maberry of Port Hadlock and Breeanna and John Prata of Kirkland.

A Celebration of Life for Cody Van Cott will be held at Wallin Funeral Home on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 2:00pm with Gary Wallin as Life Celebrant. A reception for family and friends will follow.
