Obituary for Lynne Goldman Vagt

Lynne Goldman Vagt
Lynne Goldman Vagt, age 55, was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven early Sunday morning, July 3, 2016, after a valiant nine-year fight against cancer. She passed peacefully at home in Oak Harbor, WA, surrounded by her children, Brian and his wife Denise, Brad, Bryce, Brandon, Brett, Lauren, Molly, and Bruce.

Born on Monday, July 11, 1960 in Sheridan, WY, Lynne grew up in a loving home in Colorado Springs, CO with her parents Henry and Dolores Goldman, older sister Leslie, and younger brother Duane. Lynne and her children have made Oak Harbor their home since 1991.

She excelled in both academics and athletics, and attended Oregon State University where she completed a degree in sports leadership. She used this training in her first career working for USA Swimming, as well as her second career of raising eight children.

As a devoted follower of Christ, Lynne faithfully attended Family Bible Church in Oak Harbor. She embodied Christian service, devoting her life to raising her children to be firm in their faith and integrity, as well as serving her community. Her dedication to her church, family, and community is evident in the outpouring of love and support from her close friends, as well as countless community members and friends from afar.

Lynne is survived by her eight children; her father, Henry Goldman III; siblings, Leslie Hicks, Duane (Patty) Goldman; and nieces and nephews, Lindsey (Tim), Ben (Natalie), Justin (Alyssa), Aphten, Garret, and Avery.

She is preceded in death by her mother Dolores and her brother-in-law Tab Hicks.

A viewing will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Family Bible Church in Oak Harbor, WA, followed by a funeral service at 4 pm and a reception.
