Gualberto Ramos (Bert) was born in Agno, Pangasinan, Philippines on August 5th, 1926 to Alfonso and Anacleta Ramos and was the youngest of 6 children. He joined the U.S. Navy on July 3rd, 1946, and had a successful career spanning 30 years, retiring as Master Chief. During his enlistment, he was assigned to the U.S.S. Eldorado, U.S.S. St. Paul, and U.S.S. Coral Sea. Lastly, he was stationed at NAS Whidbey Island where he managed the C.P.O. Club. In January 1955, he married his wife, Eufemia. They had 3 sons: Rodolfo, Cesar, and Mario.

As a young boy, he worked with his father tending to a farm outside Calapan, Mindoro. During that time, he developed his love for fishing, which would become his favorite pastime upon retiring from the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed traveling to the Philippines, Mexico, Israel, and Hawaii with family and friends.

During his long, fulfilling life, he had remained close to his family, especially, his two grandchildren: Tiana and Dayna. A dedicated man, he tirelessly strived to love and provide for his wife, children, and grandchildren. With charisma and grace, he led the Filipino community as President of the Filipino-American Association of Oak Harbor from 1978 – 1980.

It is because of his love and devotion to family & friends that we express our deepest love and gratitude. This is why we celebrate and honor his life.

Surviving Bert are his sons, Rodolfo (Susan) Ramos, Cesar (Debbie) Ramos, Mario and his wife Pamela Mallari-Ramos; his grandchildren, Tiana and Dayna, and large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Those preceding him in death are his lovely wife Eufemia, and all of his siblings.

A funeral mass will take place at St. Augustine Catholic Church of Oak Harbor, WA at 1 pm, on Thursday, July 20, 2017 followed by a reception. Military honors will follow provided under the auspices of NAS Whidbey Island Honor Guard. Private interment will proceed at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.
