Obituary for Laurel "Lori" Miller

In loving memory of Laurel Sue Miller
Lori, 77, of Coupeville, Washington passed away peacefully on January 2, 2018, with her loving family by her side.
Lori was born on April 12, 1940, in Canton, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Frances Kandel. She leaves behind her husband of 54 years Jack, her sons Michael, Jeffrey, Jason/Beth (wife); grandkids Zachary, Tyler, Bayley, Brayden; great-grandkids Arianna, Abel, Elle; along with many in-laws and friends.
After graduating from Ohio University where she met Jack, they married and started their family in the Cleveland, Ohio, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania areas before moving to Washington State in 1977. Along with raising her own kids, Lori loved teaching other children at schools in Kirkland and Langley. After retiring, she enjoyed making arts and crafts in her free time, which she gave to her grandkids and sold at many local and holiday bazaars where she met and made many friends. She enjoyed talking to people and those who she met along the way liked her personality and, sometimes, candor. She was easy to talk to and develop a friendship that often remained.
Lori liked to garden and enjoyed spectator sports, especially the Seahawks and Huskies. She was also quite fond of animals and usually had a dog or cat in her life.
To quote one of her favorite expressions about her present life situation, she would probably say "Oh rats!"
A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on January 27, 2018, at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville, Whidbey Island. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to her favorite charity, the Whidbey Animal Improvement Foundation (WAIF) at www.waifanimals.org., or at P.O. Box 1108, Coupeville, WA 98239.
