Susan Lynn Higman, age 46, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep while on a trip to Puerto Rico.

Susan was born in San Diego, Calif. as Susan Lynn Mustard to James Edward Mustard and Carol Lee Clark on July 27, 1972. She moved to Whidbey Island as a young girl and was a 1990 graduate of Oak Harbor High School, and later, Skagit Valley College.

She worked for a number of employers on Whidbey Island, including more than 22 years with Island County in the IT, planning and coroner’s offices.

She touched many people’s lives during her time in public service.

Susan is survived by her mother, Carol Kennedy; her sisters, Michelle Kennedy and Roni Ferguson; and her two beautiful children, Daria and Jackson Higman.

We will miss Susan and her infectious smile.

Her family held a private celebration of her life on Dec. 8. No public service or memorial is planned at this time.
