Obituary

Mary Eulalie Lowe of Langley, Washington passed away on April 1, 2019 at Fidalgo Care Center at the age of 90.

Mary was born in Des Moines, Iowa on November 29, 1928, to Kenneth Evans and Thyra Lee (Buck) Evans. She grew up in Evanston, Illinois with her brother John and sisters Dee Dee, Peggy, and Kendra.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Lowe (JT); son, Fred Johnson; and brother, John Evans.

Mary enjoyed making art, traveling, and reading. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University in Illinois, and her Master of Fine Arts degree from San Jose State University in California. Mary specialized in glass and ceramics.

Mary fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and later retired and relocated with JT to Whidbey Island where they both became full-time artists. She was a very talented glass artist who specialized in glass fusing of large plates and bowls. Mary regularly collaborated with JT on beautiful works of art combining her glass fusing with his wood sculpting. Their work was displayed at the local artist cooperative in Langley.

Mary is survived by her daughters: Kendra Johnson, Denise Carlton, and Elizabeth Fisher; her step-daughters: Martha Ann Kelly and Carol Kinner; sisters: Dee Dee Boyer, Peggy Fasy, and Kendra Higgins; her grandsons: Kenneth Johnson and Eric Kelly; and by her granddaughters: Katie Fisher, Megan Fisher, and Alice Kinner. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her. She was a loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
