Obituary for Leonida Pedoc "Leony" Panpan

Leonida P. Panpan

Leonida "Leony" Pedoc Panpan was born October 28, 1953 in Del Gallego, Camarines Sur, Philippines to Antonio and Ramona Panpan. After medical complications, she died peacefully on August 5, at the home of her sister, Leticia, and niece, Joey, with her friends Myra and Victoria at her side.

Leony fulfilled a dream by arriving in the United States in 1990, petitioned by her sister and brother-in-law, John and Leticia Sumner. Leony spent her time in the US working for Auld Holland Inn from 1991 until 2018. During this time, she was a devout member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Leony is survived by her family in the Philippines, sisters Erlinda, Flora, Rita, brother Antonio Jr., and their many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Ramona, father Antonio, brothers Alfredo and Pedro, and sister Iluminada.

In the US, Leony is survived by her sister, Leticia; nieces Joey and Eva; grandnieces, Ame (Shane), Catie, and Demi; grandnephews Bart (Kenzey), Flint, Jack; and great grandnieces, Harper and Zelda. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, John.

Though Leony never married nor had children, she stayed close to her relatives in the Philippines and with her many wonderful friends. Leony worked very hard over the years in order to care for her family in the Philippines, sharing her earnings to help support family members and help many relatives to further their education. For her family here in Oak Harbor, she was generous as well, giving of her time and delighting her grandnieces and grandnephews with delicious Filipino food, especially pancit and lumpia.
