In August 2009 Bernie Skud was the honored guest at NOAA Fisheries 75th Anniversary Event at the Little Port Walter Marine station in southeast Alaska where he did classic research on population dynamics of pink salmon in the 1950s. Shown here are photos of Bernie talking with Dr. Douglas Demaster, Director of the Alaska Fisheries Science Center and Willard Brewington, a colleague that also worked at Little Port Walter with him. Bernie published many important papers on pink salmon including the first research ever conducted on intertidal spawing of this salmon at Lover's Cove near the LPW station.
The second photo shows Bernie sharing a glass of wine with Charlotte Heard when he visited several friends in Juneau and Auke Bay after the anniversary event.
