Leslie Allen "Les" Stewart of Kent, WA, passed away in Coupeville, WA, June 30, 2016 at the age of 63. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mitzi of Kent, his two sons Jason of Coupeville, WA and Kyle of Kelso, WA, daughter-in-law Stephanie and grandchildren Madison, Payton and Parker, all also of Kelso, WA. He is also survived by brother Dwain of Blanchard, LA, eleven nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives.
Les was born in Minden, LA, to Alford and Betty (Frasier) Stewart. After high school, Les served in the US Navy from 1972 through 1980, primarily stationed between NAS Whidbey and NAS Kingsville. Most notably, Les served on the USS Midway as part of VAW-115 and received the Presidential Unit Citation for service in Vietnam between 1972 and 1973. After the Navy, Les joined the US Postal Service and held many leadership roles including Postmaster of Redmond, Renton, Auburn and Puyallup. Les was an avid outdoorsman and spent his free time hunting or fishing in Washington and Oregon with his family.
Services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on July 14, 2016, at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to a favorite charity supporting Diabetes or Heart research.
