Condolences

Condolence From: Carol Torset
Condolence: My deepest condolences for the family of Dur and the Oak Harbor and North Whidbey Lions clubs. Lion Dur will be missed by many people. He touched them all with his devotion to Lions and to his community. I became a Lion because of him. He spoke at the Sedro-Woolley Lions 70th anniversary celebration where I was an attendee - not a Lion yet. He gave me his International Director pin, and when I explained I could not accept it because I was not a Lion, he said "keep it, you will be someday". I never forgot this and did join Lions eventually and his pin was the first one I put on my vest. On June 6th of this year he installed the officers of Sedro-Woolley Lions and it was special for me. I shared this story with him and the club that day - the day I became President of my Lions club. I have learned so much from Dur and I am so thankful to have known him. I will miss him.

Condolence: Our hearts are gravely saddened by the loss of our wonderful friend, Dur Roberson. We had the great fortune to spend an afternoon with him, 2 days before his death. He was in good spirits, and proclaimed that if rehab requested that he do something 4 times - he would do it 5; which sounded so much like every other effort Dur made in life. He called Roger "Boss", and me "Mom", in the years since he served as District Governor when Roger was Council Chairperson. Our 34 year relationship was rich, beyond words. I am so grateful that I was able to give him a kiss, and tell him I loved him; never imagining that 2 days later we would suffer this loss. We are deeply gratified that he will no longer suffer. The hole in our lives, though, is profound. God bless you, Dur. Rest in peace.

Condolence: I first met Dur very soon after moving to Washington State in 1997. Transferring into a Spokane area Lions Club and starting attending meetings I soon learned Dur was a Lion to get to know. I always found him very gracious in discussions regarding Lionism. All of us in Multiple District 19 have lost a great mentor and community volunteer.

Condolence: Lion Dur was an amazing Lion and a friend of mine. We served on the International Board together and had many things in common. He was a delight, a gentleman, and devoted member. He will be missed. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Condolence: Dur was always a welcome knowledgeable addition to any Lions function or Conference. Just had to make sure there was no rubber chicken on the menu as he said many years ago he had had a enough.
We will miss his happy smile and experience that he brought into LCI and Lions Lions Clubs.
